Shades, Indiana 

Deputy Sheriff Tom Nichols returns to his rural Indiana hometown when a migrant worker dies on the grounds of an abandoned summer camp. The man’s final word, “Valerie”, reopens a campfire legend Tom remembers vividly, though no one else in Shades will admit it ever existed.

Tom’s investigation uncovers a generational cover-up involving a corrupted Underground Railroad station, exploited escapees who vanished beneath the camp, and a field of unmarked graves the town has spent decades hiding. But the haunting that grips Shades isn’t just Valerie’s, it’s tied to something older, rooted in the land itself.
